Expect The Best

Established in 1981, CAIS as a national network of member schools supporting collaborative initiatives in leadership, education, management, and governance. Today, CAIS is a community of over 90 independent schools who explore and pursue exemplary leadership training, research and international standards of educational excellence.

Accreditation and Standards

The five-year accreditation cycle starts with the school developing its Self Study, which identifies both strengths and areas for improvement.

In the following year, a team of peers from other CAIS Schools reviews the Self Study, conducts a four-day visit, and creates a report with commendations and recommendations.

This comprehensive process is the foundation for the School Improvement Action Plan, which becomes a roadmap for the future.
There are 12 Standards at the core of CAIS accreditation, grouped into three broad areas: strategic direction, education program, and school operations. Accredited schools meet or exceed these standards.

CAIS Standards are reviewed annually, based on current research and exceptional practices. The Standards Council of the CAIS Board reviews and approves all changes to the Accreditation Guidelines.

Nearly 100% of CAIS' 53,000 students are accepted at the university or college of their choice.
"Although each school has its own special value proposition, recent analysis of accreditation data confirms that schools in the CAIS network are well-governed and exceptional in supporting students’ growth and development through outstanding academics, student life, and leadership experiences."
