Senior School

Starting in Grade 9, the opportunities for learning outside of the classroom grow with each grade. E-Week kicks off the year as students venture into the woods to push beyond their comforts and learn about themselves and their peers. Grades 10 through 12 have choice in their adventure, from international voyages to local arts and science modules. School life in the Senior School expands opportunities to learn through interactive experiences, whether through service roles in the community, co-operative education at a local business or leadership positions in support of the College's mission.
Middle School

Experiential learning opportunities offered in the Middle School play an essential role in the holistic development of students spanning Grades 5 through 8. Various outdoor education programming and well-planned day excursions offer hands-on, experiential learning opportunities that complement classroom instruction. Concepts taught in subjects like Science, Health and Physical Education, Art, Geography, and Social Studies come to life outdoors, reinforcing academic knowledge and deepening understanding. E-week opportunities in the Middle School are also essential for nurturing well-rounded individuals who are physically, emotionally, and socially competent, environmentally conscious, and equipped with the skills and knowledge to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Montessori School

The Montessori method is all about experiential learning. HSC's approach encourages children to explore, discover and engage actively with their environment, fostering a deep understanding of concepts through practical experience. In HSC's Montessori classrooms, children use specialized materials that promote self-directed learning, allowing them to progress at their own pace. The experiential learning framework at HSC nurtures curiosity, independence, and critical thinking skills, creating a solid foundation for lifelong learning. By integrating the Montessori principles of sensory-based and self-motivated activities, HSC ensures that each child’s educational journey is dynamic, engaging, and tailored to their individual needs.
